This loop is the best way to ride Eddye McClure Trail and explore the eastern end of the South Hills. It puts the switchbacks on the climbing leg and the more open straightaways on the descending leg.
To make it a loop, park at the pullout near the junction of South Hills Road and Lime Kiln Road. There is a small trailhead here which leads up to the junction of Eddye McClure West with Eddye McClure East. To ride the route shown here, don’t take this trailhead, but ride Lime Kiln Road to nearly the top of Martinez Gulch Road. Take a right in the open meadow near the top, and ride west towards Mount Ascension and the start of the singletrack. Ride the 2006 Trail north towards Eddye McClure West. When you meet the Martinez Gulch Road again, there is a short climb to Eddye McClure East.
