SUMMARY:Musikanten All Souls memorial candlelight concert
DESCRIPTION:Musikanten Montana\, under the direction of Artistic Director Kerry Krebill\, invites all friends to join them in the opening of their 21st season in Helena. The chamber chorus will present its annual All Souls memorial candlelight concert one evening only\, Saturday November 2\, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral\, 511 N. Park\, at 7:30 pm. \nIndividual candles will be lighted for all St. Peter’s Cathedral parishioners who have died in the past year\, as well as for any other beloved friends or family members requested by Musikanten friends. To have a candle lighted and name of a loved one in the memorial program\, please email the name you would like listed to musikantenmt@aol.com by October 31. \nMusikanten will be joined by guest artists contralto Anne Kania and baritone Robert Tudor. The meditative program will include organist Wendy Yuen playing “Before the Image of a Saint\,” by Karg-Elert\, and accompanying Musikanten in five movements of the beloved Fauré “Requiem\,” featuring baritone Art Bumgardner singing the “Hostias.” As a dedication to our soprano friend Heather Barnes\, the Musikanten women will join together to sing the “Pie Jesu.” The ensemble will also sing the final chorus of Giacomo Carissimi’s 1648 oratorio “Jepthe.” \nCantor Gerald Schafer will chant the names on the memorial list\, and there will be a period of silence for personal meditation and prayer. The concert is performed without intermission\, and the congregation is requested to depart in silence\, remembering those who have gone before us.

DESCRIPTION:An after-school art class at The Holter Museum of Art! Join teaching artist Abby Ouellette to learn about a different artist each week\, exploring their artistic style and medium before breaking out to create your own piece of art! Each session will begin with a “Meet and Greet” to meet the artist! Students will learn the artist’s name and a short history of their life before then exploring notable work. Once the class has met the artist\, we will then begin working with that artist’s preferred medium on a piece of our own. The final half of the hour of the class is an open studio exploration with students welcome to continue working on the day’s pieces\, start a new piece\, or return to work from past sessions. This class is open to all skill levels! Come with your own knowledge and the willingness to learn!\nSpeaking about artists\, meet your arts instructor! Abby Ouellette is an Illustrator originally from Boston\, Massachusetts. She is passionate about bright colors\, desert plants\, and creating work that is fun. Abby frequently explores the concept of girlhood and coming of age through her illustrations\, and brings a fun and nostalgic twist to them through movement and cut-paper techniques. DESCRIPTION:Cohesion Dance Project celebrates 10 years of Shira Greenberg’s Nutcracker on the Rocks in Helena on Saturday\, November 30 and Sunday\, December 1\, 2024 at the Helena Civic Center. Featuring the music of James Brown\, Aretha Franklin\, The Rolling Stones\, Janis Joplin and more\, this community based\, rock-n-roll rendition of the holiday classic showcases a unique and energetic fusion of dancers and dance styles\, along with a roaring Harley Davidson on stage! Leading audiences on a thrilling journey through the decades\, Nutcracker on the Rocks artistically blends community dancers with professional visiting guest artists in creative partnerships and energetic collaborations\, seamlessly weaving people of all ages and abilities\, including those with disabilities\, into the fabric of the choreography. \nNutcracker on the Rocks originated in Albuquerque\, NM\, and was performed there for 20 years. Helena now holds the prestigious honor of being the only location where this innovative production is staged. \nThe 2024 cast includes nearly 70 community dancers of all ages and abilities performing alongside professional visiting guest artists from across the country. Local lead dancers include Téa Woodland as the Rat Queen and Laura Brown as Marie. Visiting artists returning to the Helena stage are Missoula-based Rebecca White as Madame Drosselmeier and NYC-based Alex Ptelikapich who most recently graced the Grandstreet stage this summer as Race in Newsies! \nDon’t miss the excitement of Nutcracker on the Rocks this Thanksgiving weekend!
